Organized Thoughts

One Size Fits None

It always astounds me when I read a tag on a piece of clothing or accessory that says one size fits all. I understand that the item in question might be able to fit a good portion of the population, but it doesn't mean it is flattering or comfortable for everyone. Thankfully, those items are few and far between. We have different sizes and styles of clothing because we have different needs. Organizing should be approached the same way. There is not a one size fits all strategy that works for everyone because life cannot be fixed by one textbook answer. The single mom with two kids won't have organizational routines that are similar to the 70-year-old retired couple. Every stage in life is different, so customization within organizing is key.

One Size Fits All

Self-Help?

Although self-help books can spark a desire for an organized life, it is difficult to make lasting changes based on the words of an author who doesn't know you or your situation. Such books are geared towards the masses, so they give you one approach that they think should work. However, the customization you have with Joyful Organization is invaluable. You can't call up Marie Kondo to get her opinion on what to do about a 7-year-old who refuses to let go of his multitude of Legos, but you can call Joyful Organization to get their advice. Self-help books can be a great place to start, but guidance and encouragement from someone who can hear your struggles and tailor to your needs is key.

Working Together

All of my clients bring new concerns and dreams for what an organized life looks like to them. Some are willing to pair down the volume of their items by half, and others are only willing to part with one trash bag. However, clients on both ends of the spectrum are still immensely satisfied with the routines and strategies that we create with them. Organizing won't work for an individual unless they are invested in the process, so we use their input to create an organizational structure that works for their lifestyle.

So whether you want to become a minimalist, or just need help organizing a section of you home, let Joyful Organization help give you the freedom to live the life you've always dreamed of.
